Local specialties and grapes from northern Italy: here is why you’ll get one of a kind experience with these new shoots

Planting new shoots is a patience based activity like no other. On the one hand it feels thrilling to take action after months of thinking about the company’s vision for the next few years; on the other hand, you just can’t wait to see the results these new plants are going to deliver, which aromas, flavors and color hues.
If you manage to give to the plant enough time and attention though, values that only a gifted farmer possesses, you’ll have immense rewards.

So here is yet another element that strenghtens the bond with the land we harvest: the sweat, hussle and dedication we put in order to achieve the best results.
But what happens when we choose to plant atypical vines that, on the surface, have nothing to do with that famous bond with the terroir? Well, the wine we obtain will be ever more enriched beause of the diversity it is born from: the vine specific features will intertwine with the land peculiarities and its climate, giving birth to a unique product with no comparison.

The work of a farmer is one of the most important for a Winery

The decision to plant Perricone, a typical sicilian specialty, and Manzoni Bianco, a variety from northern Italy, comes form the above mentioned reasons that were carried out during the past long winter.
Perricone will see the light with a whole new label, the details of which are still a secret between our wine maker and the De Gregorio Family, but we can already dream about its spicy scent of juniper and black pepper and flavor of marasca cherry, prunes and berries.
Manzoni Bianco has proved to be a strong asset time and time again for Cantine De Gregorio.
Born around the 20s’, it’s a blend created by wine maker Luigi Manzoni and has found here at De Gergorio’s its better half from Sicily. The two of them have been living together in our Bianco di San Lorenzo for twenty years now.
Bianco di San Lorenzo is an historic wine for Cantine De Gregorio, it’s the king of the 10th of August feast (from which the name comes from, the San Lorenzo night) and a well recognized icon around here.

We can’t wait to taste with you the new wines that will come from these shoots because, as they say, wine, wether local or international, typical or widely spread around the globe, always brings people together.
